Cannabis City Guides covers licensed cannabis retail in Belmont and the mid-Peninsula. Belmont allows two cannabis stores, both on El Camino Real: Cannavine, which trades as NUG Cannavine, and Canna-Bel. The other two shops on this page, Flor and Juva, are in neighboring Redwood City. Adult-use sales require you to be 21 with a valid ID, and a passport from any country counts.
No shop pays to be on this list. Every shop here holds an active state license, and shops run A to Z by name.

Flor Redwood City opens earliest, at 6 am, and Flor Redwood City and Juva Redwood City stay open latest, until 10 pm. Hours for all 4 shops on this page come from the shops' own sites. Each profile shows the full week.
Belmont at a glance
Belmont has two licensed cannabis stores, and that is the limit. The city's cannabis zoning district on El Camino Real allows a maximum of two businesses, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal, and the DCC license search lists exactly two: NUG Cannavine at 1538 El Camino Real, Suite C, and Canna-Bel at 1397 El Camino Real.
The other two shops on this page, Flor at 620 El Camino Real and Juva at 2301 Broadway, are in neighboring Redwood City, not Belmont. Redwood City has five active storefront licenses of its own, so this page is for Peninsula locals and visitors staying anywhere between SFO and Palo Alto.
Legal retail is new here. NUG Cannavine opened on 7 Dec 2025 after a debate that began in 2017, and when it opened it was the only cannabis store between San Bruno and Redwood City.
Allowed
Allowed with the owner's permission. Property owners, including landlords, can ban cannabis use, so renters should read the lease.

Caltrain's Belmont Station at 995 El Camino Real puts you on the same road as both Belmont shops; Cannavine calls it a short walk. The station is in fare Zone 2 and wheelchair accessible with an elevator, and its 375 parking spaces are paid at the ticket machine or through ParkMobile (zone 99610).
SamTrans ECR, which runs between Daly City BART and Palo Alto Transit Center, connects at the station, as do SamTrans 260 and 397.
Driving, take the Ralston Avenue exit from US-101 and head west. Cannavine has a free lot behind the store, entered from El Camino Real.
The Belmont shops are about 9 miles in a straight line from NOAA's San Francisco International Airport weather station (our calculation from DCC and NOAA coordinates). Without a car, take BART from the SFO station in the International Terminal to Millbrae, where Caltrain lists BART-Caltrain transfers, then ride Caltrain south to Belmont.

Belmont's first dispensary, NUG Cannavine, opened on 7 Dec 2025, after a debate over cannabis retail that began in 2017, the San Mateo Daily Journal reported.
The Planning Commission voted against recommending NUG's proposal on 12 Mar 2025. On 25 Mar 2025 the City Council approved both stores anyway, with Councilmember Gina Latimerlo casting the only vote against the NUG site. Canna-Bel's site at 1397 El Camino Real is the former Sumac restaurant, the Daily Journal reported.
Under their development agreements, the Daily Journal reported, both stores will pay an extra 1.5% to 2% of gross receipts into community benefit funds, and NUG would make an additional $50,000 donation to the city's Parks and Recreation Department.
The Belmont store carries two names. The Daily Journal identifies Hrant Ekmekjian as Cannavine's owner, and DCC lists him among the owners of the NUG CANNAVINE license. Elsewhere in San Mateo County, a DCC license search for "San Mateo" (data refreshed 22 Sep 2026) returned active storefronts only in Belmont, Daly City, Pacifica, Redwood City and San Bruno, and the Daily Journal reports that San Mateo's City Council has tabled lifting its retail ban at least twice.

Whether to allow dispensaries in Belmont became a contentious issue going back to 2017, the San Mateo Daily Journal reported.

Source · trycannavine.comBelmont caps cannabis retail at two stores. At the end of 2023 the city created a zoning district on El Camino Real between O'Neill Avenue and F Street that permits cannabis retail and distribution, allows a maximum of two businesses, and still requires City Council approval, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal.
The Daily Journal also reports the conditions. Stores must be at least 600 feet from child care facilities or schools, and no smoking or loitering is allowed outside them. Cannabis operators pay a 6% business license tax on gross receipts, compared with 0.4% for other retailers.
The DCC license search matches that cap: two active storefront licenses carry a Belmont address. Redwood City, just south, has five active storefront licenses: Embarc, Juva, Airfield Supply Company, Flor and MMD.

Use it at home or on other private property where the owner allows it. State law bars smoking or eating cannabis in public places, and Belmont does not allow smoking or loitering outside its cannabis stores, the San Mateo Daily Journal reports.
Public use is an infraction with a fine of up to $100. You also cannot have an open container of cannabis while driving or riding in a vehicle, so keep purchases sealed until you get home.
If you are staying in a hotel, do not smoke or vape there: California hotels have been smoke-free by law since 1 Jan 2024, rooms included, and DCC says most hotels do not allow other cannabis use in rooms either.
The Belmont zoning district, as the Daily Journal describes it, covers retail and distribution; we found no licensed on-site consumption lounge in Belmont. Our San Francisco page explains how that city's licensed lounges work.

Licensed delivery is legal in Belmont. State law says only licensed retailers, microbusinesses or licensed nonprofits may deliver cannabis, and a city cannot prevent licensed delivery on public roads.
Drivers may deliver only to a physical address in California and not to publicly owned land or buildings leased by a public agency (4 CCR 15416). Deliveries follow the same 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. window as store sales.
Cannavine's own drivers deliver from the Belmont store to Peninsula towns from Millbrae down to Palo Alto and Stanford. Delivery customers show the same ID at the door as in the store.

Expect warmer summers than San Francisco. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals put Redwood City's July high at 81.0 F, against 66.3 F in downtown San Francisco.
Bring your passport if you are visiting from abroad: California accepts a valid passport issued by any government as ID. Stores stop selling at 10 p.m. under state rules, and Cannavine takes its last pickup order at 8:45 p.m.
Do not pack cannabis for a flight out of SFO. TSA refers any illegal substance found at screening to law enforcement, and federal law still bars taking cannabis across state lines. The federal rule of 28 Apr 2026 moved only FDA-approved drug products and marijuana under state medical licenses to Schedule III.
Check any shop before you buy by scanning the QR code on the state license in its window. For the statewide rules, see our California laws page and the guide to a first dispensary visit.
