What we publish
Cannabis City Guides publishes city guides to state-licensed cannabis retail in California and New York: 18 cities and 114 shop profiles today. Each city page lists at least three licensed shops, explains the ID and purchase rules, where you can and cannot use cannabis, how to get around, and what is on in town.
We also publish a rules page for each state and short guides for first visits, tourists, labels, and edibles.
Why the site exists
A storefront with a green cross is not proof of a license. In New York especially, unlicensed shops sell cannabis next to licensed dispensaries, and visitors cannot tell them apart. Every shop we list holds a state license we checked in the regulator's public data, and each profile links to the lookup so you can check it yourself.
Visitors also ask the same questions in every city: can I buy here, what ID works, how much can I buy, where can I use it, can I fly home with it. We answer those with the rule and its source.
How the site makes money
Licensed shops can pay for a partner listing. It is labeled PAID PARTNER wherever it appears, and its links to the shop's website are marked sponsored. Payment does not change which shops we list or their order. Shops that pay nothing are listed on the same pages because they are licensed.
Paying does not change what we say about the law, and it does not buy a “best” label. We check a paid partner's license and address the same way we check everyone else's.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, deliver, or hold cannabis.
- We do not publish menus, prices, deals, or coupons. Those belong to the shops.
- We do not give legal, medical or tax advice, and we do not say cannabis treats any condition.
- We do not list unlicensed shops.
- We do not rank shops unless the ranking publishes its criteria and includes shops that do not pay.
Who publishes it
Cannabis City Guides is published by Cannabis Guides. Write to desk@cannabiscityguides.com for corrections, city requests, and listing questions. See how we list shops for the full method.
